Beer Prayer

This was passed on to me by a friend - it puts the right light on religion. I mean Christians have it all wrong... Remember Jesus' water-to-wine trick? This is obviously a dude that when he said: this is the covenant "poured out for you" - he didn't mean a skimpy little shot of Manischewitz! I mean, look at the long history between monks and beer...

this is hilarious. I'll have to forward this to some christian friends. They might get confused in church though and start reciting the wrong prayer. Maybe that would get me to church - oh, to see the other parishoners' faces.

oh, and either this is a real old picture or the place that it was taken is a bit behind the times. The sign in the background says it won't serve alcohol to anyone under 18... I guess that's good since 18 is under 21.

Ah, as I suspected - must be out of country. Note the Rum ad - "Gold Winner 2002". English speaking, tropically decorated, 18 drinking age... There is a Guinness depicted - is that a clue? Bahamas? Virgin Islands? Both are British "owned" - as is Guinness (by the Diageo Company, London). Is it Jamaica (Diageo also owns Red Stripe)...

Oddly enough searching for "the beer prayer bar" doesn't narrow it down to one location. Though there is a shady bar in California (the "1881 Club" - Pasadena) that has this prayer on the wall along w/ a neon "Budweiser #8" sign. Bud is the only thing on tap, but they do sell oil cans of beer - and they "finally have air conditioning".

The internet is an amazing place for mostly worthless minutia.
